woohoo! 20 miles
I made my longest ride ever today of 20 miles. The cool thing is that I did it by myself. All my other long rides have been with coach Brad by my side. I went to the Centennial Trail, which I like a lot. It takes less than 15 mins to get there if there is no traffic. However, My average pace on this ride always seems to suck, I blame all the street crossings that have a Slalom style guardrail you have to slow way down to navigate through, plus often waiting for cars too. I practiced drinking without stopping, and actually trying to pedal at the same time. This is a skill that still needs lots of work for me, I get all wiggly and unbalanced and usually have to coast to put the water bottle back in the cage. I am a little saddle sore…perhaps some real bike shorts(with padding) will be my next exercise purchase. I am going to stick to 20 for a while and try to improve me time. I used my HRM and the difference in calories burned between it and my bike calculator are huge. I am going to use the HRM one (I like that bigger number!)
Other Things to remember: Coke flavored Nuun + luna watermelon moons = disgusting taste combo! Clif goo chocolate flavor = yum! I ate one at my turn around point and it gave me a ton of energy plus it tasted like pudding.
