Ride Home

So glad that it is still light out enough to make it home safely. I did have on my new lights (front and back) but it was still very light and spring-like out. So weird to have this sunny and warm weather. But glad for it when it comes to working out outside!

Should I Play Softball?

There were a LOT of people at the workout center today. There were several girls working out with a trainer and doing drills that are clearly training for softball. Arturo was watching them and thier trainers we watching us and both picked up little drill ideas from each other. We continue to work on lots of balance, core and endurance type exercises. But today he had me doing laterals back and forth and then squatting down to pick up a softball that he rolled towards me. Then I had to throw it back to him. The first time I hit him hard in the leg. Whoops. But I was doing some pretty good throws. Hmm… not really my thing, but fun for a change. He really worked me hard and kept my heart rate high today. Of course the warm-up ride on my bike helped with that too. I am still sore from Friday’s workout so I know I am going to continue to me sore this week. But we did take some extra long time to really stretch out my legs at the end.

Cycle to Gym

It was SO beautiful I decided that I HAD to ride my bike to the gym. Used my Garmin on Multi-sport mode but that means it won’t work for the Sweat/Garmin upload. That’s OK not a lot of details on this short commute type ride. I didn’t even use my clip-in shoes because I didn’t want to carry a backpack for the extra gym shoes I would need. Good thing for those double-sided peddles.

Weekly Plan

Weekly Review: Still doing great when I have a class or session with a coach… but not doing good on the days that I am on my own.

  • Mon Feb 1: running homework
  • Tues Feb 2: done as planned!Zumba class
  • Wed Feb 3: running homework
  • Thurs Feb 4: day off
  • Fri Feb 5: done as planned! 60 min Strength Training with trainer
  • Sat Feb 6: done as planned! Running class 3 miles
  • Sun Feb 7: bike miles
  • So what is in store for this week? I think because I am currenlty taking this class and have 4 days a week of running homework, that I need to just focus on my running right now. I know I will catch up on the bike and swim miles in the summer so I am ok with not doing that right now. I will allow myself bonus workouts of bike, swim or Wii at any time though.

  • Mon Feb 8: 60 min Strength Training with trainer
  • Tues Feb 9: Zumba class
  • Wed Feb 10:  Running homework 30 mins
  • Thurs Feb 11: art club = day off
  • Fri Feb 12: Running homework 30 mins
  • Sat Feb 13: Running class 3 miles on the schedule.
  • Sun Feb 14: Running homework 30 mins

    Running Class with Tory

Today I got to run with Tory and chat away. Trista didn’t make it, so I didn’t have my usual pace partner. I haven’t had a chance to talk to Tory and wanted to catch up. But all that talking got us a little off track. :) It happens. Eventually she had to split off as I finished the shorter run and she went off to catch up with the marathon training group who were doing a longer run. It was a chilly morning, but sunny and beautiful. Overall another great run with 5:1 jog: walk splits. I had my garmin on a ‘workout’ that I had made, but it ended before the run did, so I didn;t realize that I was running with the timer stopped for a while. So I had to recalculate the miles and time at the end. I think I may have run a little faster this week since I was pacing off Tory instead of Trista, but not really sure.

I didn’t do any of my running homework this past week so I need to do better with that or I won’t be able to improve as much as I want.

    Boot Camp Workout

We were running all over the place and doing all kinds of crazy things, including pulling some metal sled with weights on it from a harness. I felt like a horse, but it was a good workout. and fun.
